IODE

In 2011, a campaign to distribute iodine tablets was launched within a 20km radius of two Belgian nuclear sites.

Iode is a photo-documentary work dealing firstly with the siting of the Tihange nuclear site (Wallonia, Belgium) and its impact on the region, as well as the symbolism of the distribution of ensite iodine pills. Initially distributed within a 20km radius of the two Belgian nuclear sites, they were then rolled out across the country in spring 2018 via a nationwide distribution campaign.

Was the idea to reassure the public and assert a cautious stance on this industry, whose dangers everyone knows, or rather an admission of insecurity about the reliability of the facilities?
